Lung tumor is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells that start off in one or both lungs. Tumor symptom is quite varied and depends on where the tumor is located, where it has spread, and how big the tumor is. Lung tumor symptoms may take years before appearing, usually after the disease is in an advanced stage. There are several lung tumor symptom:
- Cough that won’t quit
People must be alert for a new cough that lingers. This is because while a cough associated with a cold or respiratory infection will go away in a week or two, a persistent cough that lingers can be possible sign of lung tumor. Most of them assume a stubborn cough, tuberculosis and excess mucus is a normal fever. They should pay attention stubborn and dry cough that lasted for months is one of the symptoms of lung tumors.
- Change in a cough
Change in a cough is one of the symptoms of lung tumor. People must pay attention to any changes in a chronic cough, particularly to those who smoke. Besides, if coughing more often, cough has a deeper or hoarse sound, or coughing up blood or more mucus than usual, it consult a doctor for advice.
- Breathing changes
Usually this symptom can be overlooked and blamed on getting older; being out of shape or perhaps due to those few extra pounds you have gained. Shortness of breath or becoming easily winded is also possible symptoms of lung tumor. However, this symptom can occur if lung tumor blocks of narrows an airway or if fluid from a lung tumor builds up in the chest. - Pain in the Chest Area
Lung tumor may press on nerves which resulting in pain in shoulder, chest, back, or an arm even before they cause a cough or difficulty breathing. This aching feeling may not be associated with coughing. When lung tumor causes chest pain, the discomfort may result from enlarged lymph nodes or metastasis to the chest wall, pleura(lining around the lungs), or the rib.
The lung produces a wheezing or whistling sound when breath if the airways become constricted, blocked, or inflamed. Wheezing is the cause of many diseases. However, prolonged and severe wheezing likely lung disease tumors.
- Loss of Weight
An unexplained weight loss may be associated with lung tumor. This caused a cough that will always bother with a meal and make a sufferer will feel the lack of appetite. When tumor is present, this weight drop may result from tumor cells using energy in the body.
- Bone Pain
Lung Tumor that has spread to the bones may produce pain in the back or in other areas of the body. Usually this pain may worsen at night while resting on the back.
